Erasing Someone.

Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I

Gustav Klimt, 1903 – 07.

I can’t seem to permanently erase you in my head,

But I solemnly swear that you’ve faded to nothing but a mere silhouette.

Darling, that used to fill me up with dread.

Sometimes we close our eyes to play blind,

Other times we pretend to play deaf,

I can’t seem to permanently erase you in my head.

There were times where I grabbed onto you like sand,

The tighter I grasped, the quicker you fled.

Darling, that used to fill me up with dread.

When we open our eyes and ears to our surroundings,

We realize that pretending doesn’t change, but,

I can’t seem to permanently erase you in my head.

There was a moment in a part of my life

That I couldn’t imagine absolutely ceasing contact with you.

Darling, that used to fill me up with dread.

The days that used to tread started to fly

And what seemed to be so clear started to disappear, but,

I can’t seem to permanently erase you in my head.

Darling, that used to fill me up with dread.
